OPaL, a DC-Based Homebuilder, Builds One-of-a-Kind Homes in Palisades

OPaL is an esteemed company in Washington DC known for building unique homes of

superior quality on previously developed land. Their portfolio boasts of extremely prosperous properties in DC and Maryland such as Cabin John Crossing located on McArthur Boulevard, the developing Morton Street Mews on 11th Street NW and Naylor Court Stables in Logan Circle.

Naylor Court Stables just received two national awards for Design at the Pacific Coast Builders Conference. The homes were also awarded Project of the Year, a highly esteemed, judge-nominated award.

OPaL builds on previously developed land in an effort to limit sprawl and to preserve Washington DC’s undeveloped areas. This becomes more and more of a challenge each year, but OPaL has taken on this challenge with enthusiasm.

Their latest project, Canal Mews, is between Reservoir Road and the Georgetown Reservoir in DC’s Palisade neighborhood. Canal Mews is two 5,000 square-foot, 5-bedroom Brownstone-style homes built on the lot of a house which was in bad repair. They are unique in design, remarkably roomy and secluded.

Houses in the neighborhood vary from 1920’s style homes to modern mansions. Their beautiful exteriors with varied bump-outs and bay windows at Canal Mews pair well with the diverse assortment of homes here. The homes’ exteriors are a mix of stone and gray-blue shingles. Each has a formal staircase on the outside and a two-car garage.

Walk up the steps of the formal staircase, through the front door and into the homes at Canal Mews. You’ll feast your eyes on spacious rooms, choice finishes, premium appliances, reading nooks, beautiful ceilings with beams and even elevators if you’d like. When you walk out the back door you’ll step onto a deck which extends into a large backyard.

Since the homes are located on Hutchins Place NW, the Palisades Safeway and Black Salt on MacArthur Boulevard, the Palisades Farmer’s Market and Capitol Crescent Trail are close by. Georgetown is also close by offering a wide range of different shops and restaurants.
